This article investigates the social conflicts which implemented today’s streets through two distinct urban models in polarizing characters: the secular-commercial evolution of Times Square, New York, and the religious-traditional revival of Asakusa, Tokyo.

本稿は、二つの対極的な都市モデル、ニューヨーク・タイムズスクエアの世俗的・商業的進化と東京・浅草の宗教的・伝統的復興に対する比較を通じて、現代の街路を形成した社会的葛藤を考察しました。

This article purposes to consider how should the government or law respond to the emergency of pandemic caused by COVID-19. First, I argue that the frustration and anger people feel during pandemic is not caused by pandemic, but pandemic only revealed people’s underlying awareness of unfairness in general regardless of pandemic. Second, I consider the value of the rule of law by comparing deontology and consequentialism. Basically, consequentialism is supposed to prefer flexible extrajudicial measures to the strict rule of law. However, I argue that consequentialism can promote the value of the rule of law if it is combined with conservatism.

本報告書は、2022年3月に刊行された「アフターコロナの公正社会」の第1章「緊急事態における正しさ」を抜粋したものです。 コロナ禍という「緊急事態」において、公正とはどのように捉えるべきなのかにつき、 哲学的な考察を展開します。
