酒井 啓子（さかいけいこ）　領域代表者・計画研究B01代表者

千葉大学大学院社会科学研究院教授。
1982年東京大学教養学科卒、英ダラム大学中東・イスラーム研究センター（CMEIS）にて修士号取得。専門は中東現代政治（特にイラク）。
1982年よりアジア経済研究所でイラク研究に従事、1986－89年には在イラク日本大使館専門調査員、1996－98年カイロ・アメリカン大学客員研究員。2005年から東京外国語大学教授、2012年より現職。
主な単著に、『イラクとアメリカ』（2002年、岩波新書）、『フセイン・イラク政権の支配構造』（2003年、岩波書店）、『イラク　戦争と占領』（2004年、岩波新書）、『<中東>の考え方』（2010年、講談社新書）、『移ろう中東、変わる日本　2012-2015』（2016年、みすず書房）など。編著として、『中東政治学』（2012年、有斐閣）、『途上国における軍・政治権力・市民社会』（2016年、晃洋書房）など。論文としては、"Modernity and tradition in the Islamic movements in Iraq --continuity and discontinuity in the role of the Ulama." 第15回アジア太平洋賞大賞(2003年)、大同生命地域研究奨励賞(2009年)受賞。
日本学術会議会員（2005-2014年）、日本国際政治学会理事長（2012-2014年）などを歴任。
